I am always getting creative inspiration from my favorite books and movies. My current fave is Bella Swan's room (from the Twilight Saga movies). Shabby chic meets forbidden love. Gotta love it. Some ideas for getting a similar look :

One of my favorite effects is the soft atmospheric lighting.The Japanese paper lanterns and dragonfly lights are so cool. Incorporating muted jewel tones and earthy colors give off a moody vibe : purple bedding, mustard yellow curtains, and green walls all work together beautifully in Bella's room.
I love how nothing in her bedroom is too matchy matchy, but it still looks right. It definitely has that homey, lived in feeling. Her dressing table and bulletin board are plastered with posters, colorful pics, ticket stubs, photos and other mementos.
