Forks meets Interior Design: Bella Bedroom Ideas

I am always getting creative inspiration from my favorite books and movies. My current fave is Bella Swan's room (from the Twilight Saga movies). Shabby chic meets forbidden love. Gotta love it. Some ideas for getting a similar look :

Aw, the famous purple bedspread... I absolutely love sweet floral designs like this! For those of you who aren't interested in spending insane amounts of money on ebaby for an exact replica, here is another option with the same girly (but not overly cutesy) feel.

One of my favorite effects is the soft atmospheric lighting. The Japanese paper lanterns and dragonfly lights are so cool. Want to take the cheaper route (maybe you're saving up for that life size Jacob cut-out )?? Use a couple of extra strands of holiday lights instead. Voila, free ambiance lighting.
Incorporating muted jewel tones and earthy colors give off a moody vibe : purple bedding, mustard yellow curtains, and green walls all work together beautifully in Bella's room.

I love how nothing in her bedroom is too matchy matchy, but it still looks right. It definitely has that homey, lived in feeling. Her dressing table and bulletin board are plastered with posters, colorful pics, ticket stubs, photos and other mementos.

Try adding a elements of romance in unexpected ways; the elegant mixed in with the casual. You might want to add....

I am a serious fan of the BBC series, Robin Hood. I have always had a nostalgic attachment to the Robin Hood legend, so I will totally watch the Disney version with the freaky(yet endearing) little fox Robin any chance I get, but recently I have been hooked on the T.V. series. Witty dialogue, crazy plot twists, gorgeous british actors, good vs. evil, sword fights ; it has them all. There are also some really cool costumes on the series, some of which I plan on recreating soon. I've been rewatching season 1 lately and this lovely orange dress of Marian's caught my eye..

I love love loove the way the dress splits with the conrasting underskirt beneath...It kind of reminds me of paintings by Waterhouse. And the embroidery? Not exactly me, but you gotta give the designer props for creativity ;) The punchy orange color doesn't hurt either. I don't think I could sew something so detailed but it definitely gives me ideas....

It's not even Christmas yet and I am dreaming of Spring. How very unsurprising of me. It took me a while to warm up to the fringe trend, but now I think it's kind of adorable with all the bohemian peasant tops that are trendy right now. Yay for fringe!

The dreaded (and yet so joyously anticipated) first post

O.K., sooo I have been putting off my first post for a while now.....As much as I love to write, there is nothing more intimidating to me than a blank page (or post, as the case may be ). Yes, perfectionism can be annoying. Normally, the first post on a blog is supposed to be difinitive, give meaning or deph to the blog's title, and/or be a precursor of posts to come. But since none of these options seem appealing at the moment, I'm gonna keep my entrance into the blogging world short and sweet. Here comes my point. What I'm trying to say is that I love to write about life in general, costume dramas, my crazy right brained ideas, clothes!, what I'm reading, and all other sorts of silly randomness..... And that is exactly what I hope to do on this blog. :)
